Roommates

February 16th, 2009 · 10 Comments

The weekend closes, and week 2 of the great social experiment known as “Joe’s Apartment” begins.

Roommates. Two of them, though one won’t be back for a couple of weeks. And no, I didn’t have anything to do with his leave.

“WTF,” you’re asking… I can hear you.

Nice guy, I am. Situations at work have led to a couple of co-workers driving down here for the week, while their families stay in the Bay area. One dude asked me if he could stay with me until his family could make the move in May. Having an extra room, I told him it was cool. He’ll be gone most weekends, but still pay half of the rent. That’s cool.

Other dude? Similar situation… only he has been up North working, and had to make the move in a week. Not possible, he asked the other guy to help look for something for him. First dude excitedly tells him that I’ve got room and I may be able to hook him up. After all, as he says, “Rent three ways is better.” I told him that it may be better, but ONE is best. However, having been in dire straits a time or ten, I tell him that I can hook dude number two up for a few weeks until he finds something.

So far, so decent.

Though, dude number two, who is a short Mexican guy, maybe 5 foot tall a 6′ 5″, cammie wearing fan of purty eyed Texas womens (you’re welcome Supa-G) has a tendency to cower every time I walk into the room. I shit you not. He acts as if I’m going to smack the shit out of him… which makes me want to punch him in the head. Hard. Multiple times.

Dealing with room peeps. Something new to learn.

Having dealt with room mates… and not the type that are your children or have a matching ring on their finger… Good roommates are hard to find, and if you like your privacy it’s impossible. I got lucky with Shadoglare after college, he was a great roommate, I was the bad one.

Becareful, a bad roommate can steal your food, money and most importantly… beer!

This post made me laugh my groodies off. I only met you that one time and, I guess I could see, if one doesn’t *know* you, and all they see is a hulking big dude with tats and a ponytail…it can be a bit intimidating. Good thing about leathernecks is that they don’t go about punching girls in the head.

Scared of you? Hell, I’ve clomped around in your cowboy boots. I ‘d NEVER have done that to someone I was afraid of or intimidated by! 😉

    I see… blog fodder. heh heh heh…

Did your new roommates say WHERE their families will be staying in May? Now THAT would truly be a “great social experiment”, don’t you think? Hee, Hee… :)
Now, if “three is better than two”, then – how big did you say their families are? Oh, I’m sorry. I can see your face reddening, and the eyes a-bulgin’…. Love Ya! 😉

lil sis cracked me up! But seriously, stop afearing the little guy. He probably hears you snore at night and thinks . . .”that’s one beastie I do not want to piss off!” Or, maybe he thinks you’ll sick the killer bunny on him or something. Eitherway . . . a mexican pinata sounds fun! Wheeee! KIDDING!

    Just remember:

The drool on your pillow may not be your own.

I don’t even want plants. Got the spawn on the weekends, and solo the rest of the week. Suits me fine :)

Especially in an apartment that seems to have sooooo many unsecured wireless networks nearby :)
